The Louisiana Junto is a group fashioned after Benjamin Franklin's Junto established in 1727 in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Junto is credited with having given birth to a variety of great American institutions including:
- The first U.S. lending library
- The first American Fire Department
- The University of Pennsylvania
- The American Philosophical Society
The Louisiana Junto will strive to promote Civic Improvement and Civil Discourse as did Benjamin Franklin's Philadelphia Junto. This will be done through publishing member and public essays, and rational, calm discussion in a members' forum.
